Some 20 years ago, osteochondrosis was considered an age-related disease. Today it is a scourge of young people. Why? The answer is simple – we sit at work, then in transport, and finally at home. When people are sitting for a long time, the load is unevenly distributed on the pelvis and spine, the pressure on the vertebral discs increases and pain in the neck, back and lower back appears. Yet, sitting for a long time is not the only problem.
We invited an expert - neurologist, chiropractor and vertebrologist, John Pitt, to tell us how osteochondrosis develops, what are the methods of its treatment.

- Hello, please tell us, is it really only a sedentary lifestyle that affects osteochondrosis?
- Good afternoon, of course not. For example, many people do not know how to lift weights, for example, to carry bags from the supermarket correctly. In addition, improper nutrition, insufficient fluid intake, stress, hypothermia, and even uncomfortable sleep postures only exacerbate the problem. If earlier osteochondrosis manifested itself after the age of 40 years, now twenty-year-olds come to see me, too.
- What are the symptoms of osteochondrosis?
- Its signs are more characteristic of exacerbations, when nervous structures are involved in the process. Then the patient feels the following:
- pain along the spine (in any of its departments);
- numb hands (with osteochondrosis in the cervical region), legs (with osteochondrosis in the lumbar area);
- restricted movements in the spinal column;
- stiff movements in the limbs;
- restriction of movement, stiffness;
- tension of the parotid muscles.

- Is it possible to independently diagnose osteochondrosis at an early stage?
- Most often, vertebral discs’ abrasion, the appearance of bone growths on the vertebrae, as well as any changes in the joints can be detected only on MRI. That means, there is already a problem, but it does not bother you yet.
- Osteochondrosis is an insidious disease. Why else is it dangerous?
- Osteochondrosis is much more dangerous than it seems. It can become the starting point of failure of any organ in the body. The disease progression leads to disability.
- I've heard that thoracic osteochondrosis can be confused with a heart attack.
- Right. 75% of patients come to me after chest pains, which were mistakenly considered a heart attack. The fact is that in the thoracic area, spinal nerves come out of the spinal cord and spinal column on the right and left. Their irritation at certain levels may be accompanied by chest soreness, resembling a heartache. This happens quite often and it looks something like this:
- dizziness;
- a heavy feeling in the head;
- tinnitus;
- limited breathing on the inhale;
- lack of air;
- rapid heartbeat;
- tremors inside the chest followed by a pinching pain.
- How is it possible to distinguish where it really hurts?
- It is quite difficult to do this on your own. But the pain caused by the sick spine increases when inhaling, coughing, sneezing.

-
Osteochondrosis of the cervical spine:heart pain, headaches, dizziness with short-term loss of consciousness, aching pains, weakness of the neck and shoulder muscles.
-
Osteochondrosis of the thoracic spine:sharp chest pains, intercostal pain when walking and breathing.
-
Osteochondrosis of the lumbosacral spine:dull pain in the lumbar region and in the legs, followed by limbs numbness, impaired mobility.
-
Common version:includes all parts of the spine.
- Is osteochondrosis an inevitability or the spine can be protected?
- Prevention of progression and complications development does exist. For this, you need not only to stick to an active lifestyle and eat healthy food, but also strengthen the muscular corset.
- And what should those who have already been diagnosed with osteochondrosis do? Can it be cured?
- Sure. Today, medicine has made a huge step forward in the treatment of osteochondrosis.
- Has it? Give us the details!
- At the conference on spinal diseases, my colleagues and I actively discussed a new medicine created to combat osteochondrosis: Maxiflex.

- I first learned about it from published research by a professor of Harvard Medical School, where he cited startling research data. The therapeutic properties of Maxiflex are based on simple compounds, which are very important for bone tissue
The unique remedy increases the permeability of the articular tablet, facilitates the normal deposition of calcium in bone tissue, inhibits the degenerative processes development in joints, promotes the articular bag regeneration and cartilage surfaces of joints, increases the production of intra-articular fluid, reduces soreness and increases the mobility of affected joints.
There are no antibiotics or hormones in its composition, which require individual selection when prescribing the treatment. The active ingredients of the medicine are natural, they have no negative side effects. That's why I immediately introduced Maxiflex into my own practice.
- How quickly did you see the results of such treatment? And how did you apply it in your practice?
- I prescribed Maxiflex both for self-treatment and for professional manual therapy in particularly difficult cases. When using Maxiflex, all patients felt better after the very first session. And after the course of treatment, 75% of patients restored connective tissue and increased the intervertebral lumen.
- That’s impressive. Do we need a prescription to get Maxiflex? Is it easy to find in pharmacies?
- This is an over-the-counter remedy, but since it has relatively recently appeared on the market, it can only be purchased on order at a pharmacy, or directly from the manufacturer. I would like to note that when ordering independently from the site, you can save on pharmaceutical commission.

- Thank you so much for the interview, Dr. Pitt. As a specialist, you have inspired many people giving them hope for recovery.
- Thank you for the invitation. Finally, I want to wish everyone to learn how to work with stressful situations. Don’t ignore the warning signals of the body it sends us through pain.
Feedback:
I'm having the same problem. Chondrosis is killing me. I changed the bed for a harder one, the pillow, too. I had a course of medications injected, prescribed by a neurologist, I do gymnastics on a regular basis, but everything is useless(
When it happened for the first time, I thought I was having a heart attack. While waiting for an ambulance, I thought that’s all, my death has come. The doctors checked the heart and said that judging by the cardiogram, I was able to go into space. Then I checked my head, MRI, I put on that special hat, too, everything was OK. In short, cervical osteochondrosis is a terrible thing. And most importantly, nothing helps. I want to try Contaflex. Has anyone else tried it?
Yeah, you won’t wish chondrosis to the enemy even. I know what I'm talking about, since I've been suffering since I was 20. Injections, gymnastics, osteopath, chiropractor - all turned out useless. Honestly, when I decided to try artrovex, there was not much hope, but after 2 weeks I was shocked by the result. A month later, the chondrosis that has been haunting me for almost 20 years disappeared somewhere. I continue to do gymnastics, but I've given up everything else, I think I won't need it anymore.
I am so well familiar with this all...
I fully agree. I also had such states a couple of times when I thought that everything was over. Cervical osteochondrosis is to blame. I was sitting on a potty, everything swam before my eyes and my heart was pounding wildly. The only thought I had was what a shameful death it would be to die on the toilet. I'll also try Maxiflex, otherwise I don't have any strength for this anymore.
Go to the gym guys. To the gym. Take a good trainer and exercise with your weight without equipment
It won't help. I go to the gym, I have a very good competent coach. But when it goes about my neck, he is practically useless. So the back, legs, arms can be helped in the gym, neck – only Maxiflex. Nothing else helps me.
Thank you so much for the information! I’ve been asking this question for ages.
I can share my experience, too.
I have osteochondrosis of the cervical and thoracic areas, now also of the lumbar spine.
Sleep disorders, headaches, and other types of pain.
I also read and watched a lot. Standard treatment at the polyclinic helped for six months, massage effect also lasts for about this time. Osteopaths, chiropractors can help but also for a time being. And it’s all costly, of course... And I'm not getting rich, you know.
Well, I also took everything into my own hands, at my own risk. I was actively looking for some kind of exercises-set, this is how I found Maxiflex. After this course, my chest somehow opened up. I sleep better, headaches no longer bother me. I squat, move, bend easily. My movements became complete and effortless. The sciatic nerve infringement also decreased. That’s it. I have a completely different feeling of life, a different quality of wellbeing. I owe this all to Maxiflex.
I've been sleeping on an orthopedic mattress for the last few years. My back was constantly in pain, I suffered from very frequent headaches that went away only after a back and neck massage. If I fell asleep on something else, not in my bed, I would wake up with such pains in my chest that breathing itself even hurt … I think I'll try Maxiflex, too.
Be sure to try it. It's good that there is such a remedy now. I remember when I was 21 years old I was diagnosed with cervical osteochondrosis + vertebral artery syndrome. I was hospitalized. They treated me with a system there, injected me, but they didn't do any procedures at all. Then I got discharged, and then everything started over again - the heart beat wildly, the eyes darkened, I started sweating and the blood pressure was high with the same pulse. The ambulance brought me to hospital again. The most annoying thing is that, after my being there for another 10 days, they didn't tell me anything. Then another 30 years were spent on my struggle with osteochondrosis. This is not life, but continuous torment. How much money was invested! And recently, my youngest daughter in her 20s also began to suffer from chondrosis. She found Maxiflex and bought it for me right away. Finally, I'm living the full life that I've always lacked.
